Family policies
What families ask before a first block.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
Children stay home with a fever or an illness that spreads, and come back when they are well enough for a whole block, outside included. If your child gets ill here, we call you right away and ask you to come as soon as you can.
Drop-off and pickup
A teacher meets you at the room door at the start of the block and hands your child back at the end. We release a child only to an adult on your pickup list, and we ask for photo ID from anyone we don't know. After dark, a teacher walks each family to the door.
Late pickup
A block ends at the time you reserved. If you are running late, text us and we will keep your child with a teacher. Staying past the end of a block is billed as time in care, and we give you the written policy when you register.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Afternoon blocks have a snack, and evening blocks have dinner at the long table. Babies eat beside it on their own schedule. Tell us about any allergy when you register; once your child is enrolled, we ask again in private.
Naps and safe sleep
Infants sleep on their backs, in their own cot, with nothing else in the cot. An older child who is tired rests on a mat in the quiet room, with a teacher in the room.
What to wear and bring
Send a change of clothes, a water bottle and clean socks, which we ask everyone to wear in the play room. On Friday night, children are welcome in pajamas. Bottles and milk or formula for babies, please, with your child's name kept off the label.
Reservations, weather and holidays
Reserve a day ahead when you can, and walk in when there is room. We close on the holidays on the reservation page. For weather, we text families before the first block when we can, and when a teacher is out, a backup teacher from our list steps in.
Questions about a policy?
Ask when you register. We're happy to talk through any of it.
